Understanding what the market is talking about, interested are indicators people want to read and interact with. Here are some more great content driven sites you might fight useful.
Trendsmap: a real-time mapping of Twitter trends across the world. It shows you people’s trending topic with a geographical locations. (http://trendsmap.com/ or click the logo to go there)
How it works: basically you select a country, then a map will appear with a number of ‘words’ appearing across the map. These are the hot topic words discussed in that region. Simply click on the word and a small window will open up showing you the tweet reel on that topic. Additionally, you can customise your search to particular topics or events only if you wish. Not sure if the customised part is free though.
How to begin: jump in and start using. As simple as that.
Fact: Trendsmap was started by a company based here in Australia!
Overall: I really like this app. Of course, I searched the map for my home town to see what people living around me are twittering. How very cool. Give it a go.
Google News: offers the top stories of the day. As events happen you can talk about it on your platforms. Of course this depends on your topics of discussion, and not all of the news will not be relevant to your platforms, but it’s a good place to keep an eye out on thins as they take place. (click on the logo to go there)
How it works: select the country you want to focus on. On the left hand side, are the Top Stories. A quick glance will let you know if anything appeals to you.
Overall: Once I’m in Google news, I use the search function to look up topics of interest. This will show me articles that appear in newspapers that relate. This is a quick look, and doesn’t take much time at all.

Next week I’ll be back with more content sites to use.
Have you used any of these sites before? If so, what do you use them for? If no, which one appeals to you the most?
Check out the other Social Media Tips:

, Thanks for the links! I can never come up with cool things to talk about so maybe this will help:-)
I’m so bad at checking the news. I hadn’t heard of Trendsmap before. Very interesting.
I check Google news all of the time.
I use Google News! I don’t have much time, so I browse the top stories to make sure I know a little about current events. Otherwise, I live in my hole, happy to be alone. A writer that’s a recluse? Unheard of.
Thanks!
Trendsmap was new to me as well, but the more I use it, the more I discover. But finding the time is the hard thing:)
I’ve not used these sites, but Trendsmap sounds prticularly interesting.
These sound cool! I am really liking this series.
More great links to check out! Thanks Tania!
Thanks for the links! I’ve not used Trendsmap before, but I love Google. Yay for apps that make the web an easier place to track! :0)
Trendsmap is interesting. Thanks for sending me there. I read news here and there on the web. Usually the news I get is on the TV first thing in the morning or just before I go to bed, mostly for the weather! My husband was looking into how to get articles posted as “press releases” on Google, because press releases get put right at the top when people do searches. That would be handy to know how to do it when you have a new book coming out!
I haven’t been on Trendsmap, but I’ll check it out. I’m on Google News all the time, though.
I don’t even have time to watch the real Twitter feed anymore! I have used Google News though.
