Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be.
Anyone can play along!
- Grab a book you are reading.
- Open to a random page and pull two sentences.
- Post the book title, author, and page number.
- No spoilers, please.
My quote for this week comes from The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken, pg 47.
I didn’t know how to use my abilities. I wasn’t like the other Oranges, who could spout of commands or slip nasty little thoughts into other people’s minds.
I’ve just started reading this book, and I’m really enjoying the premise of the story, the world and abilities kids hold. The disturbing way they are treated makes you feel sorry for them, but it’s also very clear these kids have abilities that are dangerous. Characters are a bit slow to grow fond of, but it’s still early on in the book and I have more to go – 488 pages in total be specific:)

I’m now curious about this book.
Now I want to know more about the Oranges. I seriously need to get this book.
Thanks for visiting my teaser.
oooh! Love that teaser. Makes me want to read the book now!

Oranges? That makes me think this book is full of fruity characters.
I like how this teaser hints at other abilities the narrator has, without overtly stating what they are … yet. I hope those four hundred pages give some juicy answers!
Oh, I’ve read two teasers of this one tonight so far. Sounds good! Do hope you enjoy it through to the end.
If you’d like to stop by I have a teaser up as well…

I am not sure I could connect with these characters, but it would be fun to find out.
Here’s MY TUESDAY MEMES POST
It took a little bit for me to connect with the characters, too, but I did eventually. I ended up really liking this book, too. Great teaser! Thanks for sharing! Here’s my teaser! Happy Tuesday! =)
I hope the characters develop more. Sounds promising.
I’m curious about a world where people can “slip nasty little thoughts into other people’s minds.” Intriguing teaser.
My Teaser is from SCARLET NIGHTS.
Not knowing how to use one’s abilities could be a bad thing–not to mention dangerous. My teaser: If Walls Could Talk
I enjoyed the quote, love the cover, and I think the book sounds good – yay Alexandra!
I know what you mean about the likeability of the characters. I think it’s important to make the mc immediately appealing even if they have a dark side, too. Time enough for the dark side later, but it’s imperative to hook the reader with the bright side first.
A very interesting teaser! Sounds like a neat book.
Oh, I do enjoy these teasers!!
Ooo…sounds like a very intriguing read!
Now I’m curious about what her abilities are.
That’s a lot of pages…
