Guilty Pleasure: Blooming Garden
November 16, 2011 by T.F.Walsh
C.J. Duggan has kicked off a weekly Guilty Pleasures blog, and I love the concept. So, every Wednesday I’ll join in and confess my most embarrassing guilty pleasure. I’d love to hear yours.
Here goes nothing…
Yes, I’m aware that last week I said no Guilty Pleasures for the month of November, but yesterday afternoon as I was watering my garden I knew I had to share its progress. Just like my NaNoWrMo which is progressing very nicely at a total of 42,000 words (30K in NaNo, and 12K written before the week of NaNo), my garden is blooming beautifully. So, I’m sharing some photos I took early this morning, especially since I woke up at the ungodly hour of 6.30am.
My first apples... I love this little tree.
Have a basketful of lemons in the kitchen - am thinking lemon meringue pie.
Picked first lot of broad beans yesterday - they were yummy.
Never tried growing watermelon before - so far looks good.
Yellow butter beans - you will accompany dinner tonight:)
One big fat gooseberry
Just hoping the caterpillars don't get to my spinach. Celery is monstrous.
Lettuce are the easiest veggies to grow.
Can't wait for the zucchinis to grow so I can make a cheesy, zucchini bake.
Tomatoes are a bit slow this year...
Cucumbers for those all important salads.
And of course I can’t forget my two garden helpers:)
Cosmo provides the natural fertilising
Arhea who is always by my side keeps away any bugs daring to crawl on me.
Do you have a garden? If yes, what do you grow?
Anyone can play along in Guilty Pleasures!
