Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be.
Anyone can play along!
– Grab a book you are reading.
– Open to a random page and pull two sentences.
– Post the book title, author, and page number.
– No spoilers, please.
My quote for this week comes from Destiny’s Path by Allan Frewin Jones, pg 25.
“Branwen knew that once she stepped into the Great Hall, the news that she carried would shatter the lives of her mother and father for all time. The open doors were like the gateway into Hell.“
Am ten chapters in and so far I’m just hanging in there. Things are happening, just not connecting with the character yet. On a side note, as a writer the first page is filled with things we’re told not to do…hmmm
Maybe you’re not connecting because of all the “rule” breaking?
Interesting teaser, love the cover!
Very intriguing teaser! I hope the book gets better for you and you start to really enjoy it.
Thanks for stopping by my blog:)

Sounds like something shattering is going to happen.
Intriguing teaser! Hope the book improves as it goes along – after ten chapters, it would be hard to abandon it.
TT: The Sense of an Ending
A first page like that would taint my view of the novel. The teaser is good, though. The girl on the cover sort of looks like a young Angelina Jolie!
Hmm that doesn’t sound too promising about the first page… I hope you’ll connect to the characters soon if you’re sticking to it. The teaser was quite intriguing though. Thanks for stopping by!
LOVE that cover!
Ooh, very dramatic. Hopefully it’ll hook you soon!
Hmmm…sounds interesting. I hope you start connecting soon. It’s hard to read a book when you feel on the outside.
Thanks for stopping by my home on the web.

Interesting choice and great pick for the teaser sentences. You’ve inspired me to do a Teaser Tuesday too.
Sounds intriguing!

I wonder what news she has to tell. Love those lines in the teaser, and it’s an intriguing cover.
Good teaser! Telling and not showing is a big turn off for me, too.
Wondering about the news is!
Very dramatic teaser! Now I’m almost holding my breath, wondering what will happen next.

Oh man. I’d hate to had to deliver that sort of news. Pretty cover model.

Interesting teasers. Sounds like an ominous book.

Sounds like she’s in a difficult place.
I had to grin about the things authors shouldn’t do comment. I used to think that all the time.
Here’s My Teaser
Excellent teaser!
Here’s my Teaser Tuesday post. 🙂
I’ve never heard of this one.
Check out my teaser!

Doesn’t sound like it’s going to be a very happy family reunion. I hope the rest of the book gets better for you. On a side note, regarding the post by ccorks — I loved The French Lieutenant’s Wife, both the book and the movie. My teaser: Christmas in Calico
Thanks Heather… Have placed The French Lieutenant’s Woman on my Goodreads to read pile:)
Oh, I’ve been meaning to read this since July! Haha, great teaser! I love how she’s such a strong girl. Hope the book would get better after the chapter you’re at.
Me too… I’ll keep with it since I really like the premise:)
‘Her grey eyes and the paleness of her skin only enhanced the delicacy of the rest. At first meetings she could cast down her eyes very prettily, as if she might faint should any gentleman dare to address her.’
The French Lieutenants Woman

What are the things you are told not to do?
Ohh nice teaser…
The opening paragraphs really bugged me – they are of her sitting on a hill describing her physical appearance – it read to me like the author stepped in to tell us these things, plus lots of adverbs, and a lack of connection to the MC… though I hope this gets better…:)
