Here goes nothing…
It’s been a few weeks since my last guilty pleasure and I’m glad to be doing them again.
This past weekend I put up my Christmas tree, along with other festive decorations around the house, tinsel on the stairs, candles and decorations everywhere. Yep, I love this time of the year. It gives me that tingling feeling of something fun about to happen. I haven’t shaken off the sensation from childhood and in truth I hold onto it very tightly as it comes with memories, good times and the anticipation to spend more time with family and friends.
As a child, I grew up in Romania, and on 5th December it was St. Nicholas day. We used to place our boots / shoes in the window sill waiting for a gift to be placed inside over night.
Then on Christmas eve, mom would put up the tree after we went to sleep, decorating it with lollies, apples and walnuts. The aroma of ginger cookies baking filled the house. The next morning we woke to gifts under the tree, and the cooking smell of cabbage rolls.
So, each Christmas I try to make my own traditions, like having my nieces over to help me put the tree up, watching festive movies and cartoons, and baking yummy cookies. Usually snickerdoodles:)
Here are a few shots of my tree.
What traditions do you have for Christmas?
