Christine Rains has just released her romance paranormal novella FEARLESS – woohoo – and as part of the launch, she’s holding an awesome blogfest. First, if you haven’t already, go get yourself a copy of Fearless and be prepared to fall in love with it. 🙂
Okay, back to the blogfest. All you need to do is write about your childhood monster. Did you have a beast living under your bed? Or was the scary clown in your closet?
I grew up loving all things horror, and from a young age I remember watching scary movies, dragging my friends over and making them watch gut-clenching tales. So, I didn’t actually have monsters under my bed or closet – don’t ask me why, I just didn’t. But my obsession with horror did carry across and affect others.
– My mum would often dream of scary vampires chasing her. That always made me giggle, but freaked her out.
– I shared a bed with my younger sister when I grew up, since our house wasn’t big. Most nights I’d leap into bed and make her turn off the lights. The moment the lights went out and she scrambled toward the bed, I tucked all the blankets under me and screamed out that a werewolf lay under the bed. She shrieked, waking up the whole house. My poor younger sister today has a fear of being in the woods at night, terrified of werewolves. Yep, I was a mean sister… but I try to make it up to her now.
I will always remember a time when I stormed into my bedroom after an argument with someone, my room was dark and the second I leapt into bed, the image of a girl appeared in front of me – she was young, fair hair and wearing a polka-dot dress. I shrugged it off at the time and it never happened again… but it was strange.
Did you have any monsters under your bed when you grew up?
