Alex J. Cavanaugh is holding a new blogfest…First Loves Blogfest. It’s simple, on 14th May, post your first loves – first movie, first song/band, first book, and first person. Four loves, one blogfest! Click on the image above for details on joining.
So, let’s kick off.
I received my first ever vinyl album at Christmas. It was Marilyn. I adored and loved this record, listening to it over and over again. I was very young at the time, so I didn’t know any better…hehe. If you dare, here’s the song that I was crazy for.
The first movie I fell for and watched dozens of times was Lost Boys. Plus, it helped that most of the guys in the movie were major hotties. In truth, there were other movies before that, but I didn’t love them as much as Lost Boys.
I can’t recall exactly which book I fell in love with first, but there is one series that always sticks with me. I picked up the first book in the mid 90s and fell in love with the series, which is still going today. I believe the last book might be coming out in 2013. I’m talking about Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series.
Interestingly, at the same time I picked up George R R Martin’s first novel, Game of Thrones with the exact cover below, and proceeded to read the next few books as they came out. It’s strange to watch the series now, so many years since I’ve read the early books.
I’m going back now to my time in primary school for my first love… maybe not love, but first crush. A young boy, whose name I can’t recall, but he would walk home the same way I did. In fact, he walked on the path across the road from me, but he would talk to me across the street the whole way home. It was sweet 🙂
Can’t wait to read everyone else’s.
I watched Lost Boys so many times. I wouldn’t mind seeing it again.
The video didn’t work, but I found it on Youtube. I never heard the song before.
That’s a sweet first love story. There’s a story in that.
Oh no… not sure what happened with youtube…. 🙂
haha, cute love…. it knows no boundries!

Glad to know I’m not the only one crazy over the movie:)
I keep coming across Robert Jordan’s books. They’re on my TBR list–The Wheel of Time sounds like an interesting series.
They are pretty good.
Loved Lost Boys!!! One of my fave vamp movies of all time! Even now!
Me too:)
Love your first movie and books. I fell hardcore for The Lost Boys, but I saw Indiana Jones first. It was the Wheel of Time series that lured me into thick fantasies too. Great post!
Yep, that’s why I fell in love with fantasies too:)
I didn’t much like the Lost Boys, but for some reason in my youth, this show was on all the time so I saw it quite a bit. I like the story of the boy that followed you home on the opposite side of the street. That’s kind of romantic.
It is cute:)
The Lost Boys! I need to rewatch that. GREAT movie.
Haven’t seen it for a while actually.. might have to pull it out.
wonderful… lost boys!
We all love something…right!

Totally yeah
I loved The Lost Boys! Jason Patric was sooooo hot! And I loved their dog. I had to get one just like him.
I wanted a dog like that too;)
What a cute blogfest topic! I didn’t realize Game of Thrones was first published so long ago.
I does feel new now with all the publicity.
I liked Lost Boys. I remember watching that with my church youth group – I’m not sure the leader fully knew what it was about, and wasn’t in the room watching with us!
Probably a good idea he wasn’t there:)
Jami Gertz was really hot as well.
Thanks for participating in my blogfest!
He sure was:)
I stopped reading the Robert Jordan’s books. I loved the first few, but they just didn’t end hehehe.
Toward the last few books they did become a bit repetitive, but I still loved them:)
I love “The Lost Boys,” too. And like you, I cannot quite remember the name of my first crush when I was six or seven (I started early). I’m embarrassed to mention the squirrel book I adored as a child, and that a song from “Mary Poppins” hooked my heart until I almost broke the phonograph listening to it a gazillion times. *blush* Fun blog idea!
How cute… a squirrel book:) I want to know more.
I love the movie the Lost Boys. Actually I watched it again a few months ago.
It is an awesome movie.
Never heard of Marilyn– pure 80’s. I remember seeing Lost Boys on television but could tell you what I saw. I keep being told by various people including my son that I should read the “Wheel of Time” series. I got the prequel book but I understand it’s not as good as the others in the series.
My post isn’t up yet but it will be in a few hours.
